How we research
Our current guides are research-based. We work from publicly available information, such as official product documentation, pricing pages, and product announcements, and we summarize it in our own words rather than copying marketing copy.
- Testing is labeled. Where relevant, our pages distinguish between research-based information and hands-on testing. We only publish scores when genuine hands-on testing has been performed. We only call a tool tested when we have actually tested it.
- No scores without testing. We only publish scores for tools we have tested hands-on, using the same categories for every tool:Ease of Use, Output Quality, Feature Set, Pricing Value, Support & Documentation.
- Dates are visible. Guides show when they were last updated and, where prices are mentioned, when pricing was last checked. Prices and features change often, so confirm details with the vendor before you buy.
- Facts and opinions are separated. Where we give a recommendation, we explain who a tool suits, where it falls short, and which alternatives to consider.
How the site makes money
Some pages contain affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions don't decide which tools we recommend or how we rank them. Read our affiliate disclosure for details.
